I recieved great news yesturday for a Monday. I got about a 10% raise of salary starting immediately. The misses was pretty happy with the news as well and let me know that she'd be ok with me getting a little something for myself for all the hard work. Anyways, the questions now is what to buy? I wasn't give a price range, but would probably stay under $300 bucks. I was thinking of either a scent-loc suit or possibly a rangefinder. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I feel like a kid in a candy store and don't know what to go after. Thanks.

Good call! How about something for each?

Maybe a really nice out for the two of you plus a gadget?

With your choices, I go range finder. It's a nice archery luxery accessory. I have an older one (though still laser) and it's nice, but I generally can eye my 25 yard and in shots. It would be different if you hunt out west. But generally, if you know a trail is 20-ish, do you care if it is 18 or 21? And, will you remember at full draw?

Congrats!

Flowers are on order....

Thanks for the tip on the flowers guys. Excellent idea. A little buttering up never hurt anyone.

Still tossing back and forth on what to get. And I'm not totally stuck on the two choices I threw out there (rangefinder or scent-loc), I'm open to other ideas to.

Thanks again.

How about any of the following:

- dozen new arrows
- new rangefinder (I'd opt for this if you don't have one)
- new GPS unit
- new treestand
- new sight or rest
- new packable raingear (like Cabelas MT050)
- new hunting boots
- new release
- new strings/cables

I could go on and on....

I think I'll go with the rangefinder

After considering the responses that I got back, I think I'm going to go with a rangefinder and a set of new strings and cables for my Mathews MQ1.

I know this could sound pretty open ended, but any suggestions on string/cable brand?

BTW, wifey got the flowers and was very happy with them. May not get me more room for spending money, but I'm sure she'll come up with some way to show her appreciation. Thanks again guys.

I have heard great things about bucknasty's strings and cables here on AT. There are several guys here on AT that make high quality strings and cables that won't break the bank. Do you plan on installing them yourself? Winners Choice is great, but pricey. Crackers does a fantastic job as well. Lots and lots of great choices, pretty much all of them are far better than what you get from the factory.
