I used G5 Deadmeats last year and was happy with how they worked. I’m wondering though is there any reason I shouldn’t try the megameats next year? Is it just more of a good thing?

I’m shooting Victory RIP TKOs, 27 inch draw and 75 pounds from a Mathews Phase 4. I think I have plenty of energy to push either head. If anyone has experience with both I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I used the Deadmeat last year as well, I had the understanding that this was the improved/updated version of the Megameat? Either way it was a killer broadhead and I especially like the practice tips you get for them, helped simulate the broadhead shot without tearing up my targets.

I have yet to use the mega meats but am a huge fan of the original dead meats. Just took a doe a week or so ago. If you are happy with the dead meats no need to switch. I have a 30” draw @70lbs and the Megas are over kill in my opinion. Dead meats shoot lights out and I have yet to have a deer make it past 60 yards.

I bought the megameats by mistake earlier this season. Meant to grab the dead meats. I decided to shoot them anyway. Took two deer with them and they performed great. Neither deer went more than 35 yards and left a massive blood trail. I was worried about penetration, but both were complete pass throughs. The second deer I shot didn’t even know it was hit oddly.. just walked off and fell over dead in about 20 yards. I’m shooting a Mach 1 at 28.5” at 67lbs with a 412 grain arrow.

I had really good luck on 3 deer this year with the Deadmeat V2. 3 pass throughs and short track jobs. I’m only shooting about 57lb with a V3 31. 29” draw. 442 grain arrow. I was really confident in my accuracy with these as well. I shot a buck from the ground slightly uphill that entered the heart and exited slightly higher and it was the most blood I’ve ever seen in my modest 20 or so deer killing career. I’m sure any broadhead with that placement would have worked just as well but my confidence is locked in with these. I’m using the same for 2024. The mega meat looks gigantic and almost comical in person. I know it would be too much for my setup.

I would say it depends on how far you are going to shoot. If you aren’t going to shoot much past 40yds the Megameat should work great. Beyond that I would go with the Deadmeat. We have some long shots out west so I don’t see myself going any bigger than a 1.5”cut. I have shot the Deadmeat since 2017 and it has been the best head I have ever used.

I purchased a pack of Sevr titanium heads to test against the Megameats. Sevr's were a joke imo, for starters they were hands down the dullest head I have ever took out of the package. Secondly their design does not gurantee a full size entry or exit. And the tabs cover up part of the blade, even though the tabs are about as sharp as the blades. Have no experience with the Hyde hades.
Nothing but good things to say about the Megameats. Razor sharp out of the package, super accurate and perform great on animals. I'm shooting 65-67 lbs. @29'' with a 455 gr arrow and I have gotten a pass thru on 2 mature bucks with the same head. I simply took it apart, cleaned it up, hand sharpened the tip and put in new blade. Both shots broke ribs on entry and exit, buried up in the dirt and now it is still on the same Easton Axis 4mm arrow and it's ready for #3. G5 makes the best made and designed mechanical heads you can buy imo.
OP, you have more than enough energy to shoot Megameats if you choose to do so.

I have had great results with both head's, and you should have plenty of energy to shoot either...

I'm shooting a diamond edge SB1 63 lb 25.5 inch draw. Will megameats work for me ?

My recommendation for deer with those specs would be a fixed blade in the 1 1/4" range like QAD Exodus, Magnus Black Hornet, Simmons Mako, etc. If you want to shoot mechanical, you could consider Sevr 1.5, G5 Deadmeat, or Rage Trypan +P. I personally haven't shot Grim Reaper broadheads.
