Hey friends. I'm going on my first backpack hunt this September and I am looking at getting a 2 way messaging device. I can get an Inreach Mini for $260 and I can get a Delrome Inreach for $170-$200. Is there a bit enough difference to justify the extra $60 for the Garmin?
I have a SPOT X that I really like. I don't like the idea of having my navigation and communication tied to one device. I've never used it in an emergency but I've tested it pretty extensively while off-roading and it has never let me down. The ability for you to share your location and drop breadcrumbs to someone at home is pretty cool as well. I have the lowest tier subscription and its like $13 a month.
They have a cheaper one that is just an SOS beacon but I wanted the ability to text my wife and say hi
Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to go with the Delrome version because it is cheaper and seems to have the same basic function with a slightly dated UI.
this year will be my 4th season using garmin inreach on a fly in moose hunt in northern Manitoba, we used the mini the first year the next year I purchased a 66i, great product, always worked
