Building my first self bow and I was wondering if I could use gorilla glue for the laminations and the fiberglass? Or am I going to have to use smooth on epoxy?? Also what size and how many laminations would you recommend for making a 60" 50# @ 28" longbow?

i have never laminated a bow (i know my dad has though) but i know that if the whole limb is about 1.4" at the ends, it pulls about 50# @ 30". i know for sinew you need hide glue, another protein so for yours, i think as long as it can bind wood (quite a few don't do it well though) you should be fine. as for the laminations use strips about 0.25" thick or so- that is what a good friend used and his pulled 55# @ 28". if this is the first time for a method, try a prototype.

Smoth-on is your best bet. I have used it on a lot of bows with out any problems. Call Bingham Projects about your laminations they are very helpful and know what they are talking about.
