I talkec with the Bohning guy at the IBO Worlds about fletching Blazers with their new jig. He said Bohnings experiments demonstrate best grouping if the vanes are 3/4" from end of shaft.

To eliminate fletch interference with my face, I have mine set 1" from end of the shaft.

For me it has everything to do with face clearence. More critical on feathers on hunting arrows as I don't like the noise they make when brushing against my face. Blazers are less critical for me as they're quiet in comparison. On some bows with finger release I go as far as 2 inches but thats with 5 inch feathers, doesn't seem to affect anything.
