I've never tried the Guillotines... but I was told to use old sofa cushions with them.

I use Bullheads and practice with an original block target and haven't damaged anything yet.

I have seen people use cushions, or pillows and once, I see someone hang a huge carpet or rug from a clothe-line and shoot at that, they really absorb the hit and don't damage the blades.
