For the first time in my hunting career I’m bumping down from 70 lbs to 55 lb. Womdering what everyone opinion on broadheads I should hunt with?

My wife hunts with her bow between 50-53 and has had AMAZING results with QAD Exodus broadheads, but she shots 125 grain as well.

That's good to hear. I'm looking at using the same head this year for elk. A little heavier draw weight at 60 pounds. 480 grain arrows zipping along at 244 fps which is what the chrono showed me today. Should be good elk medicine. I've killed them with a little less energy with less efficient arrows/heads.

my bow is set @ 58lbs, 29in draw, and I have been shooting a 28 inch CE Mayhem Hunter with either a Grim Reaper 1 3/8 cut or a Wasp Jak Hammer. I get passthroughs all day long with either broadhead!

When Dropping draw weight, you need to look at arrow mass, type of broadhead. Dr ashby is great data for low draw weight. (Low energy set ups). At 55lbs I suggest arrows in the 500 to 550 gr range. I recommend broadheads with a very high mechanical advantage. Broadheads like the grizzlystik samurai.

the mechanical advantage of a broadhead is one of the biggest penetration enhancers there is.https://www.archerytalk.com/threads/how-important-is-mechanical-advantage.5967046/

Your going to enjoy shooting that bow so much. I have bows that go from 50 pound max to 80 pound max. That 50 lb bow gets a tone of use compared to the heavier pound bows.

Shoot what you want!
I would be shooting a heavy arrow with a COC head. 8-10 grains per pound TAW.

I would probably use what you have been shooting, no reason to down grade to something else that you do not know how it will perform.

You say speed bow, I went from a 2012 70lb "speed" bow to a 2018 50lb bow and the 50lb bow was as fast with same arrow, I stayed with the Thunderheads and Hellrazors as there was no reason to chaange

I'm down to 50lbs when hunting, which is turned up to max on my 40-50lb Synergy! I had some question about this early on, but after some responses to a similar question, I ended up sticking with my RAGE Xtreme 2.3s. I've had several pass throughs with them, so no issue. I shoot 325 IBO bow, 30" draw and 410 grain arrows.

My current hunting bows are set at 50#.
I'm shooting an arrow weight of 460gr with magus stinger buzzcuts. They easily pass through ohio whitetail and stick well into the dirt on the opposite side.
As long as I do my part! Shot placement is key... period.

Actually yea shoulder issues, I installed floors for 16 years. I have always shot 65-70 lbs and can still do it but I always regret it the next day. The bow I bought from someone on here said it was 65lb but it’s only pulling max weight of 55 lb so I said well I might as well switch now

You surly need to pull what's comfortable I'm NOT trying to talk you out of that but look at the limbs. It could be the stings and cables are old and it won't reach max weight.

You don't want to shoot it that way if so.......you'd be better off fixing it backing it down to the weight you want or buying a bow that's actually a 50 -60.

If you use Magnus stingers you will never know the difference. They require so little energy to penetrate its like crazy. You buy like half a dozen and maybe some replacement blades and your pretty much done if you don't lose one. Magnus will take care of any you damage, for any reason. All you need is about 380 to 450 grains and a stinger. And they tune as well or better than any other head. Also they are sharpened on the back. You can pull them out of a foam target no problem.

Depends on your draw length honestly. If you have T-rex arms (read short draw length), I'd go with a good cut on contact head like a Magnus Stinger type head or a solid three blade like a VPA or NAP Hellrazor. If you have a 29" draw length or longer you have other options with mechanicals IMO. I've dropped to the 50-55# range and have switched to the fixed heads I've mentioned above and they work great. Good luck!
