Going to try a pop up blind. Sick of getting busted and winded. I like that I can be mobile as well.
Who on here is primarily using them?
Pics?
I see Guys like bill winke using them and being successful.
Why not try it

they do not like black holes, so plan on shooting fixed broadheads through the screen, that is why they come with a screen.
Mechanicals may open when they hit the screen

I put one up yesterday, hunted it tonight due to 18degree wind chill, had a doe n fawn and small buck walk by at 10 yards and the doe glanced my way. This is on a trail, not on a field, that is a tottally different scenario there...

I pretty much hunt out of them exclusively in South Dakota. We run and gun with them all the time out there. Just like turkey hunting. Every once in a while a deer will give us the side eye when coming past. But most of the time they don't give two craps about the blind. When I am hunting my WI property the deer hate the black hole like Dafis said. I keep my shooting hole as small as I can. It limits our vision but it will stop that deer from picking you out at 100 yards. Or if you get to set it up ahead of time just leave your shooting windows open and they will get used to it.

I try to use shadows and good back drop when setting blinds up and then if time brush them in as good as you can. If no time or you don't want to bugger a spot up by walking around cutting or picking up brush then I just leave it like turkey hunting.

Pros
Comfort
Protection from elements
Scent containment

Cons
Significantly limits your ability to be aware of your surroundings (sights, sounds, smells)

A good tip that I've shared that helps folks with the psychological part of it...the first couple of times, hunt out of it when its storming...you'll feel better about staying warm and dry and won't notice how much you're missing....however, go out on a nice calm evening, when you've primarily been a stand hunter and you might go crazy feeling like you're missing everything...another tip, set them up where NOTHING "should be" approaching from the rear and you can see a long way out in front (field/food plot, etc..)...this too will help deal with feeling like your missing things going on around you..

Another con... lugging the dang thing around. That alone is enough incentive to get past the difficulty of sitting in the open. I am limited to hunting on the ground this year due to a medical condition. So far I am enjoying it though not yet successful. I am using a ghillie suit and stool with a back. I love the flexibility. If I want to move I need about 2 minutes to get ready and I am off. I am NOT going to give up the sensory delights of sitting in the open and in what ever weather prevails. I have clothing for that.

Blinds are great, and have their place. If you have private land to hunt you can just leave them set up. Great option when the weather is wet or if you just don't feel like climbing into a stand.I try to find a spot where I can tuck them in with all sides covered with vegetation except the front . Some guys brush them in . I don't bother doing that anymore. This morning it rained, I sat all morning and stayed dry. I've set them up and seen bucks out of them the next day. I enjoy hunting out of a blind. I did this one a couple weeks ago. Tucked in high weeds on both sides. cut lane on a 45* angle out from the front corners of the blind. Gives a nice wide picture.

I use a stump blind from Banks outdoors. Lifetime warranty. Vision 4 has vertical windows for bows. Never have to worry about snow collapsing it or wind blowing it away. Expensive but you can hunt elevated or right off of the ground. Pros, you get away with a lot more movement, sheltered from the elements, warmer, scent is captured. Cons are you can fall asleep in one easily, lol.

You guys who use them, do you go to a lot of trouble to "brush them in"?

I got one and hope to use it this year and next spring for turkeys. Got it out of the box and set it up. Checked it out and started to fold it up and put it back in the carry bag. #$%*& Instructions were useless. Put it in the shop, unfolded, and three days later, my grandson, wife and I set it up. Finally, my wife figured it out. So I guess I'll have to take her hunting to fold up the ground blind.

I bought one this spring(I have several) I had to take one hub apart cause the kid in China put it together wrong.
I set this same one up Saturday an buddy grabbed it and then could not figure how to get the hubs deployed. I told him to put it like he found it, then showed him the simple way to set it up. There is a learning curve.

I sat itt in lst night with wind chill at 18 degrees, saw nothing...
I'm like 12-ringer, I feel like I am missing a lot just sitting in a blind, Ihave entioned this n here before. My buddy loves them. He has one set up on each of his feeders with a heater and nice chair and just reads and looks out the window.
I don't have feeders

Where I hunt in Mississippi you better have it out for a good while so they will get used to it or they will know something is up...or make sure you camo the crap out of it.
Also make sure it’s big enough for you to be able to draw your bow. I killed my first deer out of a ground blind this year and the blind was just big enough to draw but didn’t leave much room for anything else.

I hunt a property in Ks with zero trees on it, just tall grass. I put double bull blinds out in early sept and hunt them first half of November. deer get sorta used to them, but they at time still look at them. I shoot through the mesh as someone above mentioned. I doubt they would be effective unless they are put out at least several weeks before use.

Bringing your buddy heater with you in the blind on a cold hunt is the best part. If the wind isn't right, don't hunt it. I like putting them up a couple month's before season. I only gun hunt out of them because I don't have one that I can stand up in to shoot. I've tried and it's extremely awkward.
