Not trying to be a jerk at all, but good luck! I hope that price doesnt include optics also, if so, I give up. If that price is for gun alone, I would look for a used (WELL CARED FOR) Savage in either caliber. You should be able to find one in pretty good shape, if you look hard enough. Good Luck.

are you hunting in woods or fields?? here in pa., a shotgun works best(thick scrub),,,unless open fields, then
I agree 204 ruger...or if broke a .223 or .243 would be fine..or just use a bow like me!!!(not that easy!!)..
find road kill and use it as bait and they will come!! GOOD LUCK!!

I'd get the 22-250. I've got both and the .204 is a wonderful cartridge but it doesn't have the penetration to go through a coyote end to end. I shoot a lot of coyotes running away and when I try a texas heart shot with the .204 I end up with a flesh wound and the coyote has to be shot again. If you don't reload and shoot a lot the .223 is also angered choice.

Are you trying to minimize pelt damage, or just doing some killing?

Savage makes the model 11 sporter synthetic in a combo with a Bushnell 3x9x40 scope.... it is available with a detachable box magazine or solid bottom with the adjustable trigger....it is one heck of a gun(aprox $579) ..... I own the former and have killed 'yotes out to 375 yds with it....I shoot the 22-250 and use Winchester 55 gr ballistic tips which are Moly coated and it will put 3 shots within my thumbnail at 100 yds off a bench rest..... it is also avail. in .223 and .243 .... I love the gun !! .... I sight it in 1 1/2 inch high at 100 yds and it is pretty much dead on out to 225-250 yds .....

Can't go wrong with a savage. .223 will be cheaper to shoot, and good enough out to about 400 yards on yotes

I agree. Look for a used savage 22-250. The 204 is a great round but much over 300 yards and it won't anchor a yote like I want it to. 204 with a 35gr berger is a great fox load if you're wanting to be fur friendly.

I love my Savage 22-250 for coyotes! Using Hornady 55gr Vmax bullets. Shoots like a dream too.

Look around at pawn shops and such and you should be able to find a nice gun fairly reasonable.

my 204 and Berger bullets work really good and in most places in Indiana 2-300 yard shot is more likely then a 4-500 yard shot but a 22-250 would be a great round . might look into the howa rifles they are very nice.

Just bought the kids the savage edge in 243 and that thing is reallt accurate so far. 10 shells through it and it's grouping less than an inch at 120 yards. Got the gun, sling, bases, rings and 2 boxes of shells for $390.00. Had the scope already.

Take that 300.00 and buy yourself some #2 bridger traps, catch the yotes and sell them on the live market, we get 125.00 per yote here in eastern nc, wouldn't take long to buy what ever rifle you wanted.
