Big Fan of the company, and hoping others might share about them since I can't post on the brand main page. Home | Great Plains Traditional Bow Company (greatplainsbow.com)

They were willing to make for me a bow using the Youth Longbow model in Hickory to make a 45 pound bow to work with my 24 inch draw on this bow (I range 24--24.5 inches depending on the riser or handle shape) in Left hand as I am left eye dominate with my glasses on. I wanted a 40--45 pound bow for hunting.

I could find a model of similar design bow from China that is a 54 inch bow that the max weight is 35 pounds at 22 inches online that at 24 inches would give me about 39--40 pounds but the model was right side only. Shame as the better seller of this bow model had bows that look like they are better quality control when looking at reviews on Amazon or E-bay for the seller.

I acquired a B-Model takedown, 60" AMO #50@28" a couple of years ago. Since I liked the handle I decided to upgrade the limbs to a longer bow, 64" AMO and #42@28" limbs. I contacted the bowyer and I've sent the entire bow to him. I was not pressed to get it asap but I wanted bamboo in the limbs instead maple. I know, it means nothing but I like the feeling after release of the bamboo. Anyway, after 2 months of waiting I received the bow with two sets of limbs and it looks and shoots as I expected. The limbs were $350.

Here are some photos of the bow with the new limbs on:

The fit and finish is perfect, matching the original. Overall the bow is very well designed and now I have two bows 60" AMO + #50 limbs and 64" AMO + #42 limbs using one single riser.

Yes they are, but the bow I got was still cheaper then the least expensive bows that Bear makes due to being a kids model. Nice thing the brand dose as most others either custom brands say we only do the flat handle there "Hill model" at 26 inches in addition to the 28 inch draw (due to Howard Hill having a 26 inch draw) with kids models no more then 30 pounds if lucky at 24/25 inch draw at best or the do hunting weight Kids models at hunting weight $200+ more then the most expensive option and then are going to make you sign a waver on the bow saying if the bow breaks we are not liable at all.

The two lowest cost Adult bows are still about the same price as Bears most expensive non takedown bow $750.

Yes, it does due to how thin the width is on the limbs they say not using a stringer voids the warranty and you can ask for the straight grip if so desired. I would not change the grip from stock as they make the exact style of notched/locator grip I like to use on most longbow models that is universal and has the straight back so I can use a not tight full grip on the bow.

All the longbows including the B style (not legal for 3D Longbow due to the amount of reflex deflex) come in sizes from 58 inches to 68 inches at every 2 inches, so you can find a bow to work with, this is on the Custom side and sorry if you do not want to wait. So yes, you can find bows that are 66 inches in length for what you want.

Boosting this as I love the 2 part YouTube they did on people who buy a Black hunter and fixing the problems that bow has, The first fixes the problems the bow has with flight they did by making the riser a little past center since most of the Black Hunter models have it about 1/8 to 1/4 inch or more before center cut, then have in part 2 fixing the limb fit. They then might have a part 3 fixing the pad situation by cutting out a new piece of thin bowhunting stick on felt you can get at 3 Rivers or on Amazon to fix the noise issue these bows have.

Of course, this only works for the wood/bamboo model not the Metal model that SinoArt or others sell on Amazon/E-bay. Yes wood/bamboo model of Black Hunter limbs work on the metal same shape Black Hunter and fit better then yor average also made by Junxing . The Metal riser Black Hunter most people do not like due to being a solid Magnesium Aluminum hybrid.

Now some of the info in part 2 is not relevant to the flat limb Black Hunter models/similar colored model (Junxing makes both) using the same attachment and others have copied but modified attachment points so people have to buy their limbs when they break if you can find them, with 90% of the copies having to buy a new bow so you can't use the Junxing style limbs only there brands limbs. The problem is why it is not relevant is they are working on a standard Black Hunter Recurve/newer reflex deflex limb bow not going through the flat limb models as well since those bows have less issues in the fit of the limbs to the bow due to flat end, not the contour limbs.
