Entrance holes will generally be smaller, but the exit holes are ridiculously big especially with the 2 inch model. I have used them for the last 10 plus years. I have never lost a deer using them. Most deer don't make it more than 40 yards.

I bought a pack of three and killed 3 bucks. The internal damage they do is impressive. Entry holes reminded me of what my old Thunderheads left, not big but adequate. I can't speak for exits because I never got one. But due to the speed at which the deer died, ill be shooting WTS again next season. Their motto "watchem drop" has proven accurate for me.

 

I’m considering adding one or two in my quiver I currently have Iron wills and Rage. I used to love the old rockets and GRs seem similar but updated and more durable.

 

Used them this year for the first time. Killed the doe quartering-to at 41 yards. Arrow went in between neck and shoulder, buried to the fletch. Dead in 30. Buck was 43 yards slightly quartering-away. Center punch liver and he ran off about 50 yards and just stood there humped up. I could see blood pouring out. He laid down and died right there in 5 or 6 minutes. If you've got the setup they're deadly. Just devastating honestly. Great heads. Exit hole on buck shown.

As for entrance holes, I've had very nice holes. Bigger than any fixed head will provide in my two instances.

I had issues years ago. Bad springs opening in flight. Ferrules bend kinda easy on heavy bone. Found Jak Hammers were stronger but a smidge smaller cut.

 

They are ok but i think there is better. If you dont get a pass through, the blades fold back up easily and your arrow can come out of the deer very easily. With that said, i have harvested numerous deer with them. I finally switched tho this year and have had better luck and better blood trails.

 

That wouldn't be horrible. Damage would have already been done. I have only shot three so my experience is limited, but none came out. Every arrow stayed inside the deer.

Did you lose deer because of it? And which new head did you find that's working better? I've been considering the carni-four. My only concern about the WTS is no pass through, and one arrow was 510gr through a 70x30 bow, double lung no hard bone. Thats plenty power, but still no pass.

I shot them out of a crossbow and sheared ALL the blades off on a doe and two blades off on a buck. In fairness, they are NOT rated for crossbows so I can't fault the broadheads or the company. Both deer ran 30 yards and died in sight.

 

Devastating.

 

Better have some energy to drive that thing through! The 1 3/8 reapers are quite good!

 

Great heads, 10+ whitetails with them. I have switched to smaller diameter Grim Reapers for better penetration at distance. They all work with high KE setups. Had lots of pass throughs with a 520 gn arrow @ 265 fps. Great accuracy.

 

It was this head that made me switch from mechanical to fixed. Shot a few deer with them. Left HUGE holes. Had a 6 pt come in 20 yds broadside, made a great shot but one of the wings hit a rib which deflected the broadhead and causing it to snap right off. Fortunately, that caused the trajectory to launch the head into its spine and dropped the buck down, allowing for a finishing shot. I couldn’t figure out what happened until I gut it, seeing an entrance hole in center mass but a spined deer. That’s when those heads first came out (literally) maybe they’ve improved the quality since then. I loved Grim Reapers when I first started hunting.

 

I prefer the 1 3/8 head better I shot a doe last year with the white tail version hit her in shoulder tip rolled over the 1 3/8 never had that problem

Something else to consider large bladed over the top take a split second longer to fully deploy. You may not always have a monster hole going into first lung. Seems to me the 1/4ing shots put em down faster because the head is deployed longer doing more damage.

 

I shot the Whitetail Specials with the 1 3/4" head for a while back around 2012-2014. Killed at least a dozen deer with them with no complaints. Reliable head, great blood trails and dead deer mostly within 40 yards of the hit.

I shoot the 1 3/8" three blade the last couple years. They fly great and deer have gone down quickly.

I started using them this year. I only shot one deer but was really happy with the results. He died within sight and had a pretty big entrance hole.
