Hallo Amerikan bow hunters,

I am a German engineer who moved to USA , Florence Kentucky and
I am able to live the dream of hunting. I want to let you know that hunting is very restricted in Germany by law. You also have to be very rich to do hunting . Bow hunting is even not allowed !

Who can help a true "green horn" in bowhunting with a good deal on a fully equipped bow.
Best would be a sighted in modern bow, I prefere a 2006 model, and would rather spend a dollar more for good quality.

Halali

Welcome to the U.S. and welcome to the forum. I would suggest you place your ad in the want to buy section. You'll get more activity. Good luck.

Joerg, first, welcome to America. :) second, welcome Archery Talk.

I think we should move this up to the general archery section. You will get great advice about archery and the equipment you need to shoot your best.

You should read up on the suggestions you receive and other threads in the general section before deciding on anything.

JPauly,
A big welcome to you to not only this board, but to our country! There are a lot of great people on here and I am sure that somebody will pop up with a great deal for you.

On another note, I think we all should be thankfull that we live in a country where we are able to do the things that makes us........us. I have had the chance to guide many people from different countries,(I was a fishing guide in Iowa, and from time to time I would take out company reps for Pure Fishing). Most of these reps were from different parts of the globe. Many of these guys and gals had never fished before, as fishing and hunting is reserved or only available for the upper upper crust of people. Here we take hunting and fishing for granted, but like JPauly said, in other parts of the world, this is just not so. Kind of makes the .....my bow is better than your bow, or why do you gun hunt, and all the negetave posts, seem just a little bit silly don't ya' think? Sometimes we all need to take a step back and really look at what we have.

Again, welcome to the board and our country!!!! Please keep us informed on how thins are going!

Hello

Welcome!

Glad you can join in the American bowhunting tradition, it's too bad that Europe has so many restrictions. We are trying like heck to keep that from happening here, but hunting is starting to become a rich man's sport, at least for large trophies.....but many good opportunities still exist for the working man.....

There are many good bows out there to try, good names such as Mathews, Martin, Bowtech, Bear, Elite, Hoyt and many others you see on this site. I recommend you do some internet searching on these companies and see what they have in the 2006 lineup. They all have websites. I'm assuming you are new to shooting a bow, so I also recommend you shoot some of these bows at a local pro shop, you will be able to find what fits you best and feels the best. The people at the pro shop will be able to assist in tuning and answering questions you might have. And as always there will be people on this site to guide you as well......

Good luck!!!

Wilkomen and Waidmannsheil,

Spent 5 1/2 jahren in Deutschland. Hunted near Baumholder (Freisen).

You are right it can be restricted but as an American I was received warmly and spent a lot of time chasing Rehbock!

Anyway, welcome, I did miss hunting with the bow while I was there. And having shot both, I really think bow hunting could be very lethal and helpful in Germany and fit right in to the situation and close quarters sometimes.

Wilkomen......

jpauly, what I would do if I were you would be to go to a proshop or a bass pro shops type outfit and ask to shoot a bunch of different bows. They should be more than happy to help you and you will actually get to shoot the bows and pick out the one that feels the best to you. You don't sound like price is a concern so that would probably be the way for you to go. Trust me you will be happier that way, knowing that your new bow is set up properly the FIRST time! Welcome to the states and bowhunting too!!
