Im having trouble choosing a range finder. Is the ARC/ID tech really that important of a thing to have or will your basic one work fine. Also does anyone have any experiance with the nikon riflehunter 1000, leupold rx-1000, or the bushnell scout 1000?

Honestly I dont think so. I have a bushnell 440. It does just what I need it to do. I got it at walmart for $200 about 3 years ago. I use it to make a reference to objects around my stand. I make an imaginary line using these objects. That way when deer walk into the imaginary line/arc I know what pin to use without having to reach for the range finder. I also test myself on the distances while I'm waiting on the deer. Kinda keeps my mind in the game while on stand and nothings happening.

i also have bushnell 440. works great for me. I saw a couple here in the classifieds for cheap. thats were i got mine

unless your hunting extremely steap terrain or taking very long shots the ARC is not needed. I have a bushnell 550 thats always worked great, even after a 22ft fall from the stand
