For those who have used both, which is better for:

  • Low light performance
  • Optics Quality
  • Processing Speed
  • Durability

I understand some people don’t like Leupolds limited warranty, noted! Tough choice on paper.

Many thanks!

I don't have any experience with either one but, from other items I've owned from both companies, I'd take Leupold without question.

I can only comment on the Broadhead ..its been fantastic ...most important thing for me was
accuracy on all color targets ...it automatically switches from red to black depending on light so
low light is fine ....processing speed is super fast ...optics Quality fair ..durability has yet to be determined
it proved to be more accurate than more expensive range finders on the 3D courses, shooting with friends
and others ...

I have a Leupold, but not the exact model you are asking about. I can say that mine is not as accurate as others my friends own. I can range the same target multiple times and get different reading. It has become habit to range my intended target about 3 times to be sure the reading doesn't change. Pretty sure my next rangefinder will be the Bushnell Broadhead.

I have a full draw 5. My wife has the vortex viper HD and one of my shooting buddies has the broad head.

The broad head is a great lrf. I believe the full draw 5 is a better all around rangefinder. Both range all color targets accurately. The broad head switches colors based on lighting conditions where the Leupold is red but intensity has to be set manually. The BH feels 10x cheaper than the FD5. One thing I noticed this year at Redding was almost everybody was having problems with the fog we had. The BH wouldn't read at all my FD5 was still functioning properly.

Now with the viper HD. My only advice with that is stay away we are on our third one and she got it in April of this year. First one read 1.5-2 yards long on everything. Sent it in and they replaced it and this one is consistently 1 yard long. Little easier to deal with I guess. But hey at least we can keep sending it back in

I don't think you can go wrong with the either the FD5 or the BH.

I have the broadhead and think it’s great. Podium archer did a review of the two leupold and broadhead on his YouTube channel and his conclusion was that they functioned the same within 1/10th of a yrd difference from each other but the Bushnell broadhead came in a better price point. Check out his review it could help your decision.

I've got the full draw 5 and had a vortex 1400. I gave the vortex to a friend and not sure if the 5 was that much of an upgrade. I like that it breaks down yardage and gives me highest arrow travel mark but it's finicky on hitting the target whether it be a skinny tree or this morning I was hunting out of a blind with my kid, it wouldn't give me a yardage reading unless it had what seemed like more room than necessary of the opened window in the blind. I've got it set at the smallest crosshair option and I feel like the vortex acquired target better than the 5. I do like the magnification on it though.. It does take a little time to get acclimated to it but when I know I'm hunting thick stuff I leave the binos at home.
I think I paid $420 for the 5. If I could do it all over again I would have kept the vortex. That thing was trouble free.

I have the loopy RX1400, and love it. Also have sig 3000bdx binos and had a vectronix terrapin. I have compared they back to back multiple times to 500m, and they are all within 1m off a tripod, and sub 150m they are effectively identical.

The loopy is insanely quick for ranging, way quicker than the terrapin, and identical to the 3000bdx.

I cant see how they would change the hardware / software engine in the fulldraw 5. The optics is acceptable. Better than terrapin, worse than the 3000bdx binos which i do my glassing with, and major ranging until i can get closer (stalking to sub 150ish meters before i use the loopy).

VERY light, dont regret thr purchase, other than buying it on a CHEAP run out sale, and 2 weeka later they announced the current models. Oh well, still very happy.
