Guys,
I recently bought an 03 ultratec on here, and today while shooting I noticed a small sliver that had seperated from the top limb. the sliver is still attached at one end, and the "broken end" starts about half way down the limb. The limbs are XT2000 set at 62#'s (backed way out). The bow shot fine before I noticed the small sliver, and after further inspection I couldn't find anything else wrong with the limbs. Am I ok too keep shooting or do I need to replace them? I dont know anything about which limb deflection I would need if I have to replace them, but just seeing if I could get some help.
Thanks,
Hokie

The safe answer is to take the bow to your local Hoyt dealer and let them take a look at the limbs. Splintering is never a good thing.

That being said, if we are talking about a thin sliver (something akin to the thickness of a piece of dental floss AND is is along one of the corners of the limb) then the issue is probably more cosmetic than functional. I have seen this happen before when somebody accidentally "whacks" their limb on something.

If the sliver has come from anywhere other than one of the corners of the limb then I would highly advise that you take bow boy to your dealer and not shoot the bow until then....better safe than sorry.

it is a tiny sliver from the inside corner of one of the limbs just like you said. don't remember knocking it around, but my dad in his spare time is making an oak bow rack and he might have knocked it around a bit. anyways, i'll take it by the shop and see what they think when i get the chance. thanks though
