Help with opinion on fleching

How close to the end of the arrow do you place you vanes/fethers? I am trying closer than I have before and not sure , Would like your input/pics thanks!

Mine are about 1.5" from the nock groove, you want them far enough from the end so that they do not rub on your face, at least I do.

fletching

I have tried a number of different configurations and not noticed much difference between 3/8 out to about 1 1/2. To keep face contact from being a problem I'm fletching 7/8.
