HHA sight adjustment

I recently went out and bought an HHA optimizer lite single pin. The goal was to see if moving to a single pin would make things clearer for me being that I shoot right handed, but I'm left eye dominant. (The five pin I had would just turn into a blur of dots after a while)

That being said, I shot a few at the local bow shop and loved em, so I bought the optimizer. I was pumped to get this thing in, so I mounted it as soon as I got home, and went to work at 20. I set it up dead center and it was shooting wayyyy low. I moved the sight itself all the way to the bottom on the bracket, set the arm toward the bottom and was still shooting way low. I finally got this thing dialed in at 20 yards and its a little more than half way up the marker, which is weird because the arm should be down below a quarter at 20. I honestly can't bring the sight down anymore on the bracket either. Anyone else have this issue?

For reference I shoot a bowtech carbon icon. 70lbs 29 1/2 dl

If the bow is set up to you, do not move the peep.
HHA is a great sight, but does not have a user manual!
You need to set the scope on the lowest holes based on the distance that you want to shoot. Example: if you are going to shoot long distance (100 yds.), mount it to the lowest hole, if 50 yds, middle holes and for max 20-30 yds, the top holes. then the best option is to use a blank tape, included in the kit, and mark your own distances. The included tapes have never worked for me for all the distances I shoot.
In regards to were the 20 yards starts on the slider, it changes with the holes you use to mount the scope, and the speed of your bow. On the HHA Optimizer lite ultra, there is a screw that once loosened, you can turn the dial to start at the 20 you are shooting, and then locking it down, getting rid of dead distance. On the HHA kingpin, too the dial spool can be adjusted up or down. But your version does not have this feature. If you want your 20 yds to fall at the very bottom of the slider, you need to mount the scope on the top holes no.1 and 3.

Good luck,

That is the worst kind of solution, do not move the peep.
Search under my previous posts for how to fine adjust the HHA.

I'll adjust it and try again tomorrow when it's light, I set it on the middle holes to start and was shooting way low, I figured if I moved the sight down it would give me more ability to adjust. I guess I went the wrong way with it. Thanks for the heads up and I'll look up your post

You need to do the opposite.

The lowest holes are for the longest distances. For 20 yds., you should set it at the highest holes. What I wrote:

With your sight, the slider goes all the way to bottom at 20 yards, (don't confuse with the sight and mounting holes).
Hope it helps, if not, don't worry, it is called "trial and error" for a reason!

Raise your peep and get the sp-50 infinite bracket. This will allow you to put your 20yd at the very bottom of the slider and give full range of the slider.

Common setup issue. The peep gets set too low. Raise the peepa bit...drop your anchor a bit. You'll get it where it needs to be.

You went the right way. If you're hitting low move your pin low.

Ok I know this is an old thread, but recently I change my Bowtech (BT) and PSE multipin sight to single pin HHA Optimiser. For guys that still struggle or unsure here's how I did it. Both bows was setup and shot where I aim before the sight change. I change the sight on the BT. The front sight housing had 5 settings on the front mounting bracket. Middle, Low 1 and 2 and High 1 and 2.

I mounted the front sight housing in the middle of the mounting bracket and moved the slider to the lowest position possible. My standard first distance on the slider I wanted to setup at 20 m. I started at 10 m and shoot a grouping, The grouping was about 8 " low and right. I adjust windage anti clockwise and move the front sight housing to the lowest position (Low 2) on the bracket. I shot a 2nd grouping, grouping about 4 " high and still a little bit right at 10 m. I adjust only windage and then moved back to 15 m. I shot a 3rd grouping at 15 m. Grouping was about 2" high and and windage nearly on spot. I adjust again only windage and moved to 20 m . The whole time I have not moved my slider. At 20 m I shoot a fourth grouping. Slider have not yet been adjusted and at lowest point. The grouping was spot on. I shot a few more groupings to confirm. Now I have to setup the other distances.

On the PSE I mount the new single pin sight and and set it also in the middle and sliding pin at the lowest point. At 10 m I shot a grouping very low and right. I moved the front sight housing to the lowest setting on the mounting bracket, adjust windage and moved back to 15 m. The grouping at 15 m was high. I went to 20 m and shot another grouping. The grouping was still high. I moved the front sight housing from Low 2 to Low 1 and shoot another grouping. The grouping was less than 1" high. I moved the slider up a little bit and shoot another grouping. The grouping was on target and I mark that spot as 20 m. Now I have to setup the other distances also as prescribe by the 20/40 or 20/60 method.

I did not adjust or moved my peep or anything else on the bow. All adjustments was on the sight only.
