I have seen a couple of bowpresses using a ratchet strap and aluminum braces to pull the limbs in. Why couldn't you just wrap a ratchet strap around the end of the limbs next to the cams or wheel and ratchet in down a couple of clicks to do some simple work like putting in a peep sight? Dumb idea?

That's exactly how I came up with my invention, the BowMender, but I cracked the limb on my guinea pig bow with one of the first few attempts. I used the strap in the limb forks with a rubber covered 3/8" bolt and the pressure of the strap cracked the one limb at the fork.
I then set out designing a set of brackets that would eliminate the possibility of splitting limbs, while at the same time would work well on split limb bows. My press has always had legs so the bow could be stood up for hands free servicing and it hasn't changed much in about 7 years:wink:
