I built 4 horizontal rubs, made out of juniper I believe…right in the middle of 4 areas that had a ton of rubs (private IL. farm with lots of deer)…exactly how Ted described, and not one has ever been touched in 3-4 years.

I REALLY had high hopes. Obviously Ted knows his stuff, but I’m still not sure what else I could have done differently, to get bucks to hit our horizontal rubs.

We cut 6 to 8" white pine poles bark on, bury 2'. Leave a few branches on it. Drill holes for white oak branches. Score the bark with your pocket knife. They absolutely tear the hell out of it. Put them out mid Oct. We tried them horizontally, they didn't touch them!

To funny.
I’ve seen many vids of guys that use a similar set up, and get similar results.

Any thoughts as to why a horizontal would be awesome for one place and not so much elsewhere?

Guessing some missing attractant or type of aromatic tree like cedar
