Horse bow strings

2389 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  orfish
Does anyone know why horsebow strings have large loops at the end? It is very hard to find good replacement strings so I just wanted to buy a normal recurve string from someone like proline or ABB and get it in the right length. But if the big loops are very important then that wouldn't be a good idea.

Alternatively, does anyone know someone that makes horsebow strings?

Thanks!

Hi Peter!
Have you checked 3riversarchery.com? They have replacement strings for several different horsebows- if you know which bowmaker your bow is from (or what other horsebows it's similar to) you should be able to find one from them. Their site is for all traditional bows, but they have a fair selection for horsebows.
You could also try Nomadwarriors.com their stringmaker is excellent and he makes custom size strings (they sell exclusively for horsebows).

Hope that helps!
