What’s the best to use? Pros and cons to each?

Go to WalMart (hardware or craft sections) (If the insert is smoking hot, it's too hot!) and get a life time supply for $5, there are no cons. You will be available to change or adjust by placing the point in boiling water for 15 seconds!

Glue, depending on which type is permanent, holds well and easy to use. Hot melt is reversible but little more time consuming. You have to do it right or inserts will come out, I have never had one come out. Some arrow manufacturers don’t recommended them because of the heat that can damage the arrow but if you do it right that’s a non issue.

I take my glue and heat it then have my point or insert in my other hand and heat the insert ever so slightly and then get glue melting then put on insert and then insert and after insert or point is installed I dunk in ice water, then peel off excess. Never had one come loose yet.
