Just got a deal on a vapor 4 for 45$ from an old buddy up north, it will be here Saturday. Is this a good release? Pros and cons if anyone shoots it. I figured for 45$ it's worth a shot and I'm not out too much if it sucks.

I shoot a Hot Shot Vapor 3 and could not be happier with it. For a lower price range thumb release I am not sure you could ask for more. It has great adjustability, nice finish, and a really good warranty from Hot Shot. The only issue I have had with it is that I am a sweaty guy and the finish is a bit slick. So I just got stick on grip tape from home depot for $5 and cut little strips to place on the areas where your fingers make contact. However, if you aren't a sweaty person this probably wont me an issue for you.

Also, if you decide you don't want it, let me know please. I have been looking for another at a reasonable price for my wife.

FYI, use lock tight or similar on the trigger adjust screw once you have it placed. They can and will float in place. This is nothing against Hot Shot though as I understand that most releases with similar trigger travel screws will float in and out with the vibration from operation. I just put one drop of super glue on the side of the threads. Easy to remove if needed and keeps it from moving.

I love mine. Great trigger and I really like the adjustments on the thumb barrel. I think it is one of the best hunting releases out there. It is totally silent. If you don't like it I will definitely give you your money back to have a backup.

I'm hoping I like it, wrist releases kill my hands( I bruise easily from migraine medication) and no matter what i shoot they are uncomfortable. Also suffering from TP a bit from index shooting so hoping shooting this can help me with my target panic and punching triggers. Also wanting to try something I can use more of a back tension style than just pulling on the trigger.

These are really nice releases for the money. I was amazed when I played with the at the ATA and our hot shot rep was just in the shop today and I played some more.

I tried one once and want cray about it. Maybe it was the way the owner set it up, but there's more trigger travel than i was accustomed (i was shooting a Stan JustX at the time.) The owner seemed to like and shot it well.

It should be here Saturday, doesn't seem like too many bad things about it, only good things. This will be my first thumb release, and I ended up loosing the spring in my little bitty goose today so I guess it gives me more reason to shoot the vapor

Yeah I never could find a wrist release that was comfortable for me either. After months and months of wrist release research I took a dive on the Hot Shot, which was also my first thumb release, and I won't ever go back. The adjustability of the Hot Shot is crazy with how exactly dialed in you can get it. It took me about a month of messing with it every time I shot to get it exactly perfect to how I shoot. Totally worth the effort though. My groups are tighter, my forms is better, less target panic, etc. If I can find the photo I will post the first 20 yard grouping I ever shot with it. It was before any personal adjustments or anything.

Ahah! Found it. Not a GREAT group and my sight was not dialed in yet, but you get the idea.

Awesome! I just checked and it's already out for delivery so I'll be able to try it tonight and shoot it this weekend. I'm really hoping it works out, it seem to only have good reviews and no bad ones.

Just showed up right at my lunch time, haven't shot it yet but it seems to be pretty good quality, I drew back a couple times and it seems to fit my well, need to adjust barrel and tension too. Looks like a good deal for what I payed for!

I bought a vapor and really liked it. Once I started using it I decided to buy the hot shot eclipse and that is all I use now. Vapor is nice but try the eclipse if you get a chance.

I should clarify that in no way does it compare to my Stan but for what I paid which was $55 used its a great quiet hunting thumb release

Hey OP I just posted a thread about the anchor point topic. After taking some time off and coming back I can't seem to find mine anymore. Anyway, the thread will hopefully have some good anchor point options for thumb release shooters who are generally new to them. I was using the valley between pinky and ring finger knuckles against the bottom of my ear lobe where it attaches to the face. But that spot doesn't seem to be working for me anymore for some reason. Also be aware that you can change the angle of the head just slightly and that will also throw your shots. Bit of a pita, but they are so much better than wrist releases.
