I'm sitting here sharpening some Zwickey Deltas and I was just wondering how other people check the sharpness of their bh's. I can shave some hair off my arm with a little pressure, is that sharp enough? Any other tricks for knowing when it is "ready"?

Thanks

I do the shave thing but i also get rubber bands.Kinda big, dont know how to tell you size but, Use your index finger and say middle finger hold it around your fingers ,put a little tension on it and run it across the blade. If it easily cuts through the rubber band it will cut veins.

I prefer not to test on myself -- I sneeze too much

I do the rubber band thing. Loop a rubber band round 2 points, stretch it out and put VERY light pressure on it with the BH. The band should IMMEDIATLY seperate with VERY little pressure and no sawing.

Just what I do.

I was also told long ago that if you hold the blade at about a 45 degree angle to your thumbnail and drag it across the nail, if it catches it is sharp enough. If it's dull it will slide over the nail.
