When we were kids we used to shoot arrows in this big open field just to see how far they'd fly. I'm sitting in my turkey blind bored a little bit and started wondering how far an arrow will go out of my compound bow. Anybody try it?

Did this about 8 years ago over a big pasture. PSE Whitetail Extreme shot a little over 300 yards. Buddy had a better bow and it went probably 70 yards further. I'd guess a good bow today 400-500 yards depending on set up.

I shot a blunt tipped arrow off the top of a mountain once overlooking a steep canyon at a 45 degree angle. Probably one of the dumber things I have done but it was awesome.

Not as far as the "English" claim their long bows used to kill accurately during the middle ages.......Pfffft

I tried this about 6 years ago, 60 pounds with a 440g arrow and it was just a hair over 300 yards. Not sure what angle I was holding.

I saw that, 4000 feet/1336 yds..., unlimited Recurve....now thats a distance......

Kevin Strothers has unlimited Compound at 1320 yds, a tad under 4000 ft.....

I have a pond below my house that's roughly 375 yards away. I often think about launching one off my deck and seeing if I can hit it but I already lose to many overpriced arrows every year.

You people do know a mile is 1760 yards.......right. Not 1336. And that's a WORLD record.......not Joe average shooting in the backyard.....and NOT a foot bow either.....gezzzz. The guy also said well over a mile. I think some people will argue anything!

Seems we know more than you. The fact is, an arrow out of the right equipment can go a mile.

There's actually two shots on a link posted above that have been recorded over a mile. (Granted not a compound, but that's not what i was refering to.)
