Question: for you guys who stalk a lot, how much time do you spend crawling on hands and knees or stomach as opposed to a crouched walk?

I ask b/c last year I was holed up in really tall grass, and a buck saw me and turned off before he got close enough for me to draw. He never ran, just looked in my direction and didn't like something, so he turned 90 degrees to his left and walked away. After some thought, I wondered if I shouldn't have tried to move parallel and to him and cut him off. The area I was in was entirely tall grass, no trees or other cover to use for hundreds of yards. I would have had to crawl the whole way to avoid him seeing me, but I wondered if I shouldn't have. Sorry for rambling, just thought I'd get some advice for hunting Michigan flatlands. Thanks!
