I saw a thread about using a bino system to carry your binoculars and a range finder at the same time. For the life of me, I can't find it.
Does anyone have that link?
Thanks,

I still think there is a better way of doing this but I currently zip tie mine to my bino system. My biggest problem is them knocking together when I am walking. Works great for setting in a stand though. If some one has a better solution I would certainly be interested in hearing it.

Just put the rangefinder in your coat pocket while walking and hang it when ya reach your stand.

binos

I carry the binos on a bino system, and the range finder hangs off of a bow holder on my belt. The range finder has about a 5" loop on it [of whatever material- webbing, shoelace,....] and I just slip it back onto the bow holder quickly. I also use the bowholder from Vista as it has the velcro over the top that would keep it from falling off when walking lots, but can be quickly folded back when stalking. It's easily accessible and can be done w/o looking and with little practice.
I would also like to know if anyone has great method for the both as I don't like the 2 banging together.

scout

I prefer the walk all day hunts too, and use a harness for my binos, and just hang my Bushnell Scout from a neck lanyard, and place it in my left shirt pocket. Does not get in the way of my shot, no chance of losing it, and the one-handed operation is 2nd nature after just one day of using it like this. Haven't found a better way for me, but I'm always looking for improvement. Only thing is all my shirts need to have a left shirt pocket--and it works only with the one handed rangers.

I use a bino system, and have a Cabelas Neoprene Case for my LRF 900. I hang that over my neck and under one arm so it rests on my side. It isn't real easy to grab fast and range, but it is the only way that is comfortable, and where it isn't flopping around all over the place.

My leicas are so good

that I have them hooked to crooked horn bino strap and use them for 90% of my viewing.

My Swaorvski are usually hanging from a hook on the tree.

When bowhunting the rangefinder is much more important than the binocs.

My Leicas are 7X and they work great for quick glassing.

When I need to really check something out, then I reach for the binocs.

I use a the Crooked Horn Bino system for my SLCs. I put my Leica rangefidner lanyard around my neck and then put the bino harness on. This uses the pressure of the harness and weight of the SLC to hold the rangefinder quietly against my chest. However, it takes no effort to lift the leicas to use them and this too can be done quietly. I've been frankly surprized to never have a problem with this system getting in the way of drawing my bow, standing or kneeling. I have experienced first hand the detriment to having the leica's in the supplied pouch. It takes a few seconds to access, and there is some modest noise with the clip. This noise and the timing has blown shot opportunities for me. The downside with my system is the leicas (and the binos) are exposed to the weather unless its so bad I zip them in a jacket. I guess we'll find how weatherproof those units really are!

Thanks, but....

Thanks for the replies guys:wink: , but I'm looking for the post that had pics and a description of how to use the Crooked Horn Bino system for your binos and somehow using a key ring loop to attach the rangefinder somewhere close to your right shoulder, quick access and no banging into your binos.
Does anyone remember that thead?
Thanks Keith

Tether

Nikon has a retractable rangefinder tether available this year. Bass pro and some others carry it. Google "rangefinder tether" and lots of dealers will pop up. You could probably hook it to your binoc system once you get in the stand - that's what I'm going to try. There is enough play in the tether to hook it to your belt loop and bring your rangefinder all the way up to your eye if you like. Just an idea.

I just got the Nikon tether that Houston mentioned. My first test with it was on a short coyote hunt this weekend. It worked like a charm. I'm not completely sure where I will clip it while I'm bowhunting elk, but the tether will eliminate any potential problems I'm sure. I use a crooked horn bino system for my binoculars already.

Would range finding binos work for those who carry both? I don't have any first hand experience with them but it seem that they would solve the problem. These leicas are 2500.00 in Cabelas. Cabelas also has some leupolds on sale for 499.00. Are they not up to par with individual units?

I have a pair of Leica BRF and love them. OUTSTANDING quality binos and precise rangefinder. The best of both worlds. Only downside is their pricetag.

I put my binos on the crooked horn system and then loop my rangefinder around the right side strap(righthanded). As it hangs I tuck it between my fanny pack and my waist. It doesn't move and is within one hand reach at all times.
