I know this has been on here before but I can't find the thread. So besides draw length, what is the number on the cams for? Is the #3 cam faster then the #2 cam?

today the shop told me it was strictly for draw length. You can only put mods for two inches on each cam. IE 28-30, 25.5-27.5. Something like this. He said it affects speed none, other than the drawlength.

#2 is actually a little faster and #3 is a little smoother.

THe size of the cam is for the different draw lengths. Most Hoyt cams are two and a half inchs adjustment. 26.5-29. example.

Some cams will be a little faster than others (not that you may have a choice in the matter) because of the size of the cam and its affect on the rotation and all. Lots say that on the Alphamax 32 that the #2 cam is faster than the #3 cam. So if your draw is 28 inch. you can choose which cam you will go with because one ends at 28 and the other starts at 28.

Some cams depending on the model of bow will over lap. Sometimes they don't and you get whatever fits your draw length.
