I've had these string silencers pop off of both my hoyts. I took the rubber "grommet holes" out on my vtm34 and it changed from bullet hole to nock low. Anyone else take them out and it changed the tune? I put them back in and it decreased the nock low some. Anyone know where you can get just the "tails" that go in them or are they sold as one piece?

What is causing them to change the tune? Are they just adding that much weight or is it the fact that they spread the string apart?
I replaced the strings on one of my RX-8U's and didn't put them in. Tuned and was shooting perfect, put them back in and tune changed a lot. My other RX-8U, replaced strings and put them in before tuning, tuned perfect with them in place. No difference in noise. Both bows tuned easily, center shot 13/16th's. I needed to swap shims a bit on both, but it was easy. If they break in the bow that I have them in, i'll leave them out and re-tune.
First thing I did before even putting a D loop on was get rid of em. I personally dont want anything in my actual string besides a Peep. Plus if a wishbone gives up the ghost in the field it can be replaced easily vs being in the string bundle. Carry two spares and never have to worry about it. Just my two cents.
wth? These things just pop out? Just noticed the tails missing on my 3 week old ax-2. That'll drive me crazy looking at a chunk of rubber in my string doing nothing so I'll probably just pull them and re-tune. It's been a sh*t show getting this tuned in the first place, so why not add some more misery?
