I have a 2010 hoyt maxxis 31 with the #2 cam which only goes to 27.5" length. The limbs are rated for up to 29.5". The #3 cam would let me go up to 30". Anybody know if it would be ok to change those out plus the string and cables without doing harm to the bow?

the limbs should be the same #2 cam will go from 26" - 28" in .5" incraments the #3 cam 28-30. Yes you can change the cams strings and cables without a problem. My CRX 35 was a #3cam bow that I put #2 cams on and I got 60X strings and cables made for it and it is driving tacs.

You'll be fine, I did the opposite switch on my turbo hawk last year. I contacted hoyt before hand just to make sure, and they said you can do the swap with no problems, but you do lose the factory warranty.
