Somewhat related, I remember seeing a story a couple years ago of someone getting brought up on some sort of wildlife harassment charge because he shot a blunt at a blacktail doe in his yard. According to the report it actually went all the way through the deer and it ran off and died. I forget what the guy's punishment was, but I think it was reduced from poaching because he didn't intent to kill it.
