I have land that I hunt on near home, with a couple ladder stands setup. I've never really needed a climber, but I have a trip planned with a few friends to go down in southern ohio.

If I can't come up with the cash (recently had a baby boy) before the trip, is it worth it to drag out a ladder stand, for 3 days in public land? Or should I try and make a ground blind? I just don't want to lug around my stand, and then worry if I leave it up..

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

A natural ground blind is good. Just bring a comfortable chair. Don't forget a good old school spot and stalk. If you are in hilly country, you may try doing a slow stalk about a hillside trail in good cover. Keep an arrow nocked!!!
