Would like to know some opinions on two deer hunting apps available. For people that have used them, what have you seen in terms of accuracy, preference, and experience with the two?

I had been using HuntWise and I liked the app but recently had an issue that left a very sour taste in my mouth. I got a call from my banks fraud detection department ab a charge throu apple.com. Called apple and they said it was not from us. Within hours of closing the account associated I logged on to HuntWise to find out I no longer had a subscription. I contacted them and explained my issue and they requested my account information to look into it. I have tried contacting them a couple times since with no response. I got no indication my subscription was about to end and the fact they responded immediately initially but have not responded to my last couple inquiries has me believe there would be better companies to give your money to.

I have used Deercast since it came out and have had mixed results. Some days are spot on and others not so much. For instance, the first Friday in November was listed as a poor day. I saw four different bucks with three of them being shooters. It was one of the best days of buck movement I had all season. I would say there are more accurate days than inaccurate days, but it is hard to prove. Deer do not have a schedule and they move when they want. I do use it to get wind direction-barometer-ect.

Depends on what you are looking for, I like both, but I also use HuntStand, I use apps mainly for wind direction and mapping features. If you re looking for something to tell you when to hunt, good luck, I don't put much faith in planning a hunt around an app, hunt when you can, I'm not staying home because my app said it's a poor day.

I've used deercast and like others have said it's nice for basic info sun rise/set, pressure, wind, etc... We haven't had many days that said GREAT where there wasn't atleast decent movement. I've also had some days that said POOR where movement was decent.

I've been using Deercast this year and I think it does a decent job at predicting movement. I live in the woods and find that I am more likely to have deer in my back yard on "Good" or "Great" days than on poor days.

One thing it doesn't take into account is the type of terrain you are hunting. My opinion is that on "Poor" days you will likely see movement near bedding areas but on "Great" days they will be traveling more so you are more likely to see them in open areas. I've been using the prediction to indicate the areas I should hunt more than likelihood of seeing deer. I'm curious if others have found that to be true as well.

Haha my thoughts exactly. My buddy has the deercast app. It says Great and we see a bunch of deer moving and he comments "look it's accurate". Next day says Great and we don't see anything and I tell him it sucks.
I hunt everything opportunity I get as long as I have a stand for that days wind. Don't need a app to convince me to go.

Not impressed with either on predicting. I do like seeing the wind illustrations on the map. To be completely honest I have had more luck going to wunderground.com and looking at the weekly graph and placing my hour cursor on the times I plan to hunt and assess from there. I am able to see the wind direction, temp, barometric pressure rise/fall, precipitation, ect all on that graph. You can also see when a cold snap will be. I’ll do my own calculations on predicting when my time in the stand will be probable. I don’t need a Drury app to tell me. ;)

I got the 10 day version of DeerCast this season. I've made sure I was out on the GREAT days, but those were all busts. The days I saw the most deer OR just deer, were all rated OK or Poor. I just played the wind. Of course, I will continue to look at it, but for now, I'm not impressed.

Huntwise uses things like barometric pressure, weather, rut phase, and possibly moon phase into account to predict better deer movement so I do find it helpful not having to jump to a bunch of different apps and sites to get that info and make sense of it. That is all these apps are doing essentially. I use the website tides4fishing for tides and pressure drops because that does turn the bite on and they have a similar predicting software. Theres been times when I've been on a decent bite when the activity indicator was zero but when its high I usually do fair to very good.
