I shoot right off the loop no nock set and no serving. Been doing it this way for years.

I just use serving string to tie BELOW the arrow inside the loop. Some of the pros like Dave Cousins does this.

Tie the thread nockset below your nock

Here are the instructions.

Tie one overhand knot of serving thread onto the bowstring at the desired location
Pull the two loose ends of the nylon to the back of the bowstring and tie another single overhand knot below the first knot
Bring the ends of the thread to the front of the bowstring and tie knot 3 above knot 1
Moving from front to back and up the bowstring, tie knots #4 through #9 leaving knot #9 loose.
Use a separate 8 inch piece of bowstring material to form a pull-thru loop which you can push up through knot 9, snug knot 9
Tie knot 10 on the back side of the bowstring and slip the loose ends of the serving through the pull-through loop in front.
Now pull the pull-thru loop in order to get the serving ends down through knot 9.
Pull the ends of the thread tight

These are from the apple archery site.

No brass nocks or nock servings on my bow either.
Agreed. If you tie it correctly and get it tight, you don't need a nock or anything else on the string.
