I’ll be hunting Idaho unit 66 in mid September...first time in that unit. Just looking for a little advice from anyone that has been there. Definitely not looking for the honey holes but I’m planning on hunting the west side of palisades reservoir. Trying to decide if I stay on east side of Jensen creek road around poker peak or if I’m better off on the west side of the road bear creek and south past big elk mtn. Thanks!

I hunted in that area around McCoy Creek off Brockman Road last year with great success. I killed my first spike bull elk with a bow. You will see a pile of hunters but most seem to hunt down low around the roads and trails. A buddy and I walked back in about 1.5 miles and didn’t see a soul. It was straight up a mountain with elk sign everywhere. I am hunting a different area-zone this year so fingers crossed I can tag something a little bigger. Hope this helps and good luck.
