Doesn't really matter...........try the IL DNR website.....two big parks are Sand Ridge and Jim Edgar. There is also Shawnee National Forest, but reportedly deer aren't as big in Shawnee.
Also, IL public land is pretty much over crowded anyway. People from all over the country are zeroing in on the state. I can't wait for some other state like IA to be the new mecca for deer. Give some breathing room.
alot of the good public land is hard to get a permit for.you have to start early
some you have to pass a shooting test others you have to stand in line to
get a permit..call me crazy but I would look at the north east part of the state..its been real good to me......
