Does anyone know what the best material is and where we could find it. Our Club is getting ready to re-do the indoor target Board. Currently we use the cellotex with the creosote which sticks to all of our carbon arrows like crazy. Nasty Stuff!

We want to get rid of it and use something new.

ANY SUGGESTIONS AND WHERE TO FIND THE SUGGESTED MATERIAL??

Thanks in advance!

You can make a frame, with threaded rod on all four corners.
A 2x4 frame on top with a double layer plywood plate on top
to compress your material underneath.

The material could be layers and layers of cardboard,
or 1/4 styrofoam sheet insulation
or carpet scraps.

The compressed carpet scraps will be very heavy,
but will last for years. You can adjust the amount of compression
on the threaded rods to customize stopping power,
and ease of pulling your arrows.

Pieces of used carpet cut into squares and stacked work well. I have had one out in the weather for years and it still works great. If you don't mind another form of nasty stuff getting on your arrows, the used carpet squares that they replace in buildings work really well. It is that glue that remains on them that makes some gunk to stick to arrows. It is not as bad as creosote though. We have an indoor range that it has worked well. No blow throughs but the 10 ring areas sound different when you hit them..kind of reassuring you did good without even glassing the target.
