Negative threads are just that...................negative. People dislike other people for various reasons. My Father didn't like John Wayne. I asked him why and he didn't really know. There isn't any need to get personalities involved and bash people for no good reason.
My statement: "Let us hunt where he does and we'll see" was meant to humanize these so called pros. We put thse guys up on pedestals for no good reason other than they kill big bucks. That's not a good reason.
Everyone knows it's not probable to kill a big deer where they aren't plentiful.
When was the last time you saw Stan Potts hunt trophy deer in New Jersey, New York, Pa., Connecticut, Mass., etc. There are a few big deer here but the odds are slim. Look at the B+C and P+Y stats. This is COMMON SENSE.
That's right, we all can kill big deer if we hunted where Stan Potts hunts!
That doesn't mean we should dislike him for that.

WOW Im tell'n Ya folk's The Big Bucks Are Rock'n!! He's a pig an absolute Giant!! Let me set down folks wooo fewww Im tell ya folks. I LMAO at him when the one lazy eye kinda drifts off when he gets worked up an talks threw his teeth lol funny as for tom well....

I've killed a lot of deer with similar shots. Sharp 1/4 ing to shot is my favorite shot.

That's the funniest thing I've seen here in weeks. Thanks for the laugh.

I've only got ONE thing to say to the haters here, and I'm not a big fan of either man, but Stan Potts has killed bigger deer than anybody that's posted on this thread, and as for Jim Shockey, he could probably wad up anybody on this thread and drop kick em across the parking lot.

SO THERE!!

Not about to hate someone or dislike them from what I see on TV. Its not me.

Their walls speak volumes, to me they know a thing or two about whitetails and scoring on monsters. When they speak.......I listen!
Speaking of trophy walls, I actually built Stan's new house in the fall two years ago. My boss and him were childhood friends so the atmosphere was great to be around. The man is a genuine type of guy. Obviously a little emotion sometimes but he is a pretty good guy that lives to hunt.

His trophy wall in the new house was not big enuff. There are heads scattered all through the house to make up for it. I still remember the day that it took three guys and scaffolding to hang his huge elk from a couple years ago about 14 feet up lagged into the stone for the fireplace. Like him or not, he is still going to kill "Mega Giants" every year.

No! A deer can live a long time with one lung. It will most likely die but there are rare occurances where they live on one lung. A frontal shot is one I will only take under the best of circumstances. A lot of guys do not like the shot angle, or do not understand where to shoot at that angle.

I will never take a shot that I think I'll ONLY get 1 lung. I try to get 2 if not 3 major organs with a shot....either 2 lungs, heart/lung, or lung/liver/heart.
Good information and thanks. Seems to me that a frontal shot would put you in line for taking out one lung plus either the heart or the great vessels connecting to the heart. I would think that from a elevated position that vasculature would be pretty vulnerable. Also would you not likely get one of the larger vessels of the neck as you enter the chest?? (Certainly though I am not advocating pure neck shots with a bow neither is it something I am going to do.) Thanks and again good information.

Sorry if I am getting to far off topic.

I don't understand when some states a preference of not liking a "TV star" , all the fanboys coming to their defense scream jealousy.

I'm not jealous of anyone's show, where they hunt or how much "horn" they have on the wall. I am happy with who I am, where I am, and If I don't kill a deer during the season, even a doe, I really don't care in the long run- some of us bowhunt for the experience of bowhunting and not for bragging rights.

As for Stan himself, I have to admit the "deergasms" annoy me. I get excited too but yeesh, makes me wonder if he's walking around in-season with a condom on 24/7

I like stan my self. Great guy who seems to enjoy Big bucks like my self. But he kills them and I dont. Well it would help if I had a place that had decent bucks. But Stan is fun to watch.

This thread is useless.....
I like Stan. I think his emotions are true, and anyone that has that much enthusiasm and emotions in the deer woods is awesome! If we all showed that much enthusiasm the sport may not be dieing!

This thread makes it pretty easy to distinguish who I'd not cherish to opportunity to sit around with a swap hunting storeis with. Personal attacks.....I taught 4th graders for 9 yrs who were more mature.

I really can't say that I even know who Stan Potts is. I do watch quite a lot of hunting and there are those that seem fake with their actions...I know they are trying to sell videos but the WORST part for me is when the camera man is sitting at the buck filming the hunter walking up and the hunter acts starts acting stupid! My Gosh what a buck!!! Like he didn't see it when they put the tongue back in the deers mouth?
What you don't know is that the camera guy actually gets down first and finds the deer, if they can. Then the camera man cleans up the deer and secures the tounge in the mouth. When he's done, he tells the hunter to come over for their first reaction. The camera man does the majority of the work. Usually when the walk up is filmed, it is the first time the hunter sees the deer. they want it as real as posible.

As for Stan. I have never met him personally. I have talked to several guides who has taken him out. They didn't have good things to say. They say he's a pain in the @## and doesn't tip well. As far as his personality to other hunters and the owners, he comes off great.

Say what one wants about Waddell. He earned his way up. I've seen him at an airport, stop and sign as many autographs as people wanted before he moves on. I saw him open up his bag a give a young boy one of his hats. Made the kids day.

One guy not mentionned is Kevin Gross of Hunting with the Pros. I shared a hunt with Kevin in Illinios. Early season, temps in the upper 90's. Kevin made the hunt. He was so easy going and fun to talk to, to the point that my friend and I forgot to ask for an autograph. That is how down to earth he is.

seriously

Waaaaaa Im sad about stuff! My girlfriend dont even sob this much! seriously why arent you out out in the woods or doin somethin productive? I come on this site to get ARCHERY questions or HUNTING questions answered, not sob like little kids about what somebody that your cleary jealous of said! Once again Im gonna say, its people like you cry baby metros that make this site suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why dont you wax your bow string or go make a mock scrape or SOMETHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been bow hunting for over 38 years and I know what it is to get excited over a deer but Stan Potts is turning into Tom Miranda----"OOOH MY GOD, I CAN"T BELIEVE IT, I'M SOOOO EXCITED I CAN'T STOP ShAKING ," He's taking lessons from the old Tom Miranda who found out after 2 seasons that people know all that made up excitement is pure BS and now he's HISTORY.

I just watched an episode yesterday where Potts put a frontal shot on a nice buck. ARE YOU KIDDING ME FILMING THAT???? It was no accident he didn't wait for a better shot. We all know that is a low percentage shot but to film that and show to the public is just stupid but I quess when you need footage to fill your segments you do stuff like that.
Take a lesson from Blanton who is so much more of a classier and real guy.
Sorry Potts but you're way to fake for me!
I'm not even sure who Potts is but it must working becuase your still watching:confused:

BTW did he kill the deer???
