Is my peep sight too big?

I don’t know if this is a real concern or not. I’m trying to get to a consistent draw form, and one thing I’ve noticed is my peep sight is significantly larger than my pin sight...it seems like it’s too difficult for me to make sure I’m looking through it from a consistent angle, because there’s so much space between the circle on my pin sight and the circle in my peep sight. Does that make sense to anyone? If it does, should I get a smaller peep? My pin sight is HUGE, I wouldn’t want a larger one.

Welcome to AT. Yes it sounds like it is to big. I like mine to cover the pin housing. I use a 3/16" peep 2" sight housing. I also have a 30" draw.

If you are using it for hunting then bigger lets in more light. For target some people like for the peep to be really small and center the pin in the peep... That's not my style.....

Also don't be surprise for someone to pop up and try and sell you a new peep.....

Good luck.

One option to check is if you have more mounting holes on your sight you can bring the sight housing in closer to the riser. That will make the sight housing appear larger in your peep. Then if you like that you can leave it and just shoot it, or go get yourself a smaller peep and move it back out. Some people like their sights out as far as they can. Me personally on a hunting rig I keep it close to the riser.

Wow, yeah, the gap for me is at least double yours!

Ok, so I’ll check out my pin sight to see if I can move it toward me. If not, new peep it is. Although the rear sight interests me as well. Hmm...

Here is an example of what mine looks like. My peep is just larger than the outside of the housing, that way i can make sure the gap is equal all the way around.
