Is Sitka camo worth it?

Looking to upgrade from my real tree camo to something better. Wanting options from guys that have USED sika. Is it worth the money or is there a better option out there for less? I live in Iowa and hunt in temps from 90 degrees in early season to -5 late season
Thanks,

I have a mix of sitka, nomad, first lite, and scentlok. Most heavily invested in scentlok. I like the traverse stuff a lot and like fanatic jacket and vest. Love the various first lite pants I have as well as the sanctuary coat. The Nomad hailstorm for rain is good stuff. Scentlok is my favorite overall and I find myself mostly adding to that selection every time i get something new.

I would find a camo pattern that fits in your area/climate , then spend the money on a good layering system.

I have the gila Scent Lok jacket and pants, cause they go good here, but spent more on what goes underneath depending on the temperature as I wear the outer covering all season.

No 3 different jackets/coats and numerous pants depending on if the wind is blowing or cold or hot out..

people say it is to expensive, it is like cost averaging, my last set of camo lasted almost 15 years, does not wear out walking to and from a tree stand and over the mountains.

If you like being warm and quiet…Sitka. Fanatic Series is awesome when temps. get cold. Stratus Series works great for about everything else above 25 degrees. Go with Sitka if you’re a treestand hunter. And yes, I actually have both series and some other pieces. Wish I would have started buying it years ago. Very well thought out and designed for bow hunters.

I am not overloaded with Sitka but I do have some pieces and I like what I have.

To me the Stratus is the most versatile, with proper layering I can use it from cool to cold, if I had to ditch all of my cold weather hunting outer layers except for one, I would keep the Stratus.

When it comes to "worth it" that is something only you can answer. I have other clothing that works just as well for the cold and wind, but it is noisy or uncomfortable/restricting, the quality of stitching or zippers is low or the placement of pockets is not good, the Stratus covers all the bases for me.

I have never used it pushing 50 years of bowhunting now......and stayed warm with good base layer and normal camo outers. IMHO the only advantage it might have is weight. I'm looking into it this year for a trip in CO. Mainly because we are packing in and staying 5 days so weight and space are an issue. For stand hunting I'd save my money.

I have a bunch of both Kuiu and Sitka and I think it’s worth every penny. I’ve picked most of mine up on sale. I started in the cheap stuff and I reached the point where being comfortable while hunting was worth the additional cost.

I also wish they offered more camo options, but that is really my only complaint.

In addition, I have had a few of their pants tailored to fit better. Their Mountain and Equinox pants are pretty baggy for my waist size. Worth the extra $15 for a personal fit.

Thanks,
Select items on sale through the Sitka website, most sizes are available.
Stratus pants and jacket for $400 with free shipping, normally around $670, if your going to get it now is the time.

I personally dont think Sitka is worth it. I invested in a bunch of it but I was still cold. There is no denying that their build quality is better than other, cheaper brands but ultimately sitka was no more warm than something like cabelas. After more research I discovered high end wool clothing from companies like Weather Wool and I have never been more comfortable in the woods.

I used my Fanatic jacket this past season for the first time and was very happy with it. The temps that I'm hunting in, when I wear it, are from about 40* down to the single digits. The colder temps require more layering, at least for me, but I'm set up for that. All indicators said that I should buy a medium size and I had to exchange it for a large. I'm 5'11" and 150 lbs. That's one thing that I dislike about ordering clothing on line. I did go to a retailer to get some hands on, but their selection was limited. I'd like to see an XL just to satisfy my curiosity.

Regarding the camo aspect. I'd be satisfied with just about anything from anyone. In general, I'd say that camo is for us and not the deer. And whar's perfect in one location may not be the best just fifty yards away. It's all relative and situational. Whatever makes your boat float.

I'm in my seventies and have my weight right where I want it. I wouldn't want to reorder something larger just because I couldn't stay away from the potato chips and ice cream.
