A friend of friend is selling his Fleetwood Monarch 62” 50 pound recurve for $50 OBO. Is that a good deal and a good starter bow? Not sure if it would even fit me either...

Not sure how much limbs cost but if its cheaper than buying a new bow try to get the riser for 30 bucks and buy a set of 35 or 40 pound limbs

If you can handle the draw weight, yes. For most guys that would be a little high to start with but I don't know what your physical abilities are.

Way too heavy to learn properly. 40# at 28" draw should be your Max till your comfortable with shooting.

That’s a fantastic deal! Take it. Then buy a set of 25-30# limbs for practice to get your form right. You can get Monarch limbs on eBay for $60. Then you’d have a bow you can use for target and hunting.

take it. Get some lighter limbs and when you establish your form put the 50s back on and your ready to hunt.
