I have been using the IWOM for several years. I bought the IWOM XT and have loved it. I will give you my thoughts and then link an independent review that I believe you may find informative if you are kind of on the fence or can't decide between the IWOM and the Heater Body Suit.

I live and own land on a mountain and can tell you that walkin' up this mountain is rough. It also makes it tough to decide what to wear because if I hike in with the actual gear that I need while in a tree thirty feet up in 15 degree weather I will be soaked to the bone when I get there. Not to mention that even if I manage to avoid hypothermia, and pneumonia and get dry, all that sweat is just an invitation for stinky bacteria to permeate my hunting clothes. Anyone that hunts knows that a deer's number one defense is it's nose and smelly bacteria increases your scent cone dramatically.

There are guys that may initially balk at the IWOM XT's $399 price tag but they shouldn't and I will tell you why... A lot of guys are gonna spend:
$200+ on Extreme Cold Weather Boots
$300+ on Cold weather pants
$300+ on a cold weather parka
$200+ on merino base layers
$100+ on gloves, hat, and hand warmer

That's over $1100; and if let's be honest, some of us spend WAAAY more than that!

They will spend all this money and still have no idea how to get to their stand dry without packing it all in.

The IWOM is great for me because I can get buy with normal 400 gram boots and wear a light to medium base layer and wear the IWOM as a fanny pack or over my shoulder. This allows me to get to my stand dry and scent free ditching all the extra gear (and the expense of it all).

The Iwom has a built in hand warmer, hat and tons of the deepest pockets you ever saw. Because my feet are safely zipped inside the garment I don't need super heavy boots either!

Full Disclosure, I have joined the IWOM Pro-Staff for 2019. Having said that I BOUGHT the IWOM XT years ago and think it was the best money I have ever spent. I joined the Pro-Staff because I wanted to help them be successful after-all they have already helped me be successful in the woods.

I've been On IWOM's prostaff now for 3 years. I cannot IMAGINE wearing anything but an IWOM. I literally have a bunch of clothes I don't wear any more. The main thing I buy now are base layers so Im not wearing the same ones over and over. IWOM is a GAME CHANGER there came a point where I was tired of being cold no matter what I wore so I would just sit for a couple of hours and I was done. IWOM has changed all that...I literally will out sit any of my friends wearing their $1200 outfits with very little underneath my IWOM. I pretty much wear just enough to keep myself from freezing on the way in. On the way to my stand, say in October, I just wear a base layer with a thin pair of pants (I don't want it to look as though I'm just wearing my underwear! lol) and wear my IWOM in fanny pack mode. When I get to my tree I slip it on over my head and wear it in parka mode up the tree (can you do that in a Heater Body Suit?) once in my stand i just let it down and zip up the bottom and I'm ready to go! When I'm ready to come down I just reverse the process.

I could have saved probably 2,000 grand trying to stay warm before my iwom. I have reynauds disease. Cold feet/hands. Iwom is unbelievable how warm it is to wear.

I’ve had my iwom for 3-4 seasons now. Still love to wear it when it gets cold. I wear light to medium gear in and then put the iwom on in tree and throw 2 hot hands down in the bottom of it, and that warm air keeps me warm. I’ve had to unzip it down a little in 14 degrees. I will also put some hot hands in the hand pouch.

I was in the same debate about buying new gear to stay warm and it was gonna be a grand atleast, so I went the iwom route and loved it ever since. Shot these two the last few years in it. And you even able to rotate around with the feet zipped up and take shots behind you tree if needed. So they are not as restricting as you might think.

IWOM is the best hunting accessory I have bought.

I don't need to pack a ton of clothes when leaving on a hunt. Many times I have walked to my stand with just a baselayer on. Don't get sweaty getting to my stands. Do wish the handmuff was a bit larger, difficult to get hands in/out when wearing thicker gloves.

For me the unzipping of the heater body suit is a non factor and it offers a shot wearing basically the same light clothing I've practiced in all fall. Even at below freezing temps.

I'm not a pro staffer for any company...

I went with the Iwom and I really like it. It has kept me nice and toasty. I'm sure the HBS would work too. I like that you can put it on at the bottom of the tree and when you get in your stand drop it down and zip it up. Also turning in it isn't hard to due. The worst thing for me is I have a bunch of heavy coats and pants I don't use.

I recently bought a artic shield version of the heater body suit and have used it in negative single digits here in late season minnesota. For $200, you can't beat the quality and performance. It folds up nicely to pack in and out and putting on the suit in the stand wasn't difficult. I would recommend this alternative for the budget hunter that still want to get out on those single digit days.

I have had both HBS and Arctic Shield. Sold the HBS. For $200, the AS is supreme. Much better in the windproof department than what HBS claims to be.

I had a version of the suit type(warmbag?) and have tried the heater body suit, while they were warmer than typical gear I was not all warm and fuzzy in them.

The warmbag was too noisy, I had a small buck come in on a cold still evening, about 10 degrees, he popped up out of a ravine quickly and caught me by surprise, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try sneaking out of the suit and getting to full draw even though I had no intention of shooting him.

I never even got the zipper all the way down, he heard it and was outta there! Are these suits silent? I think the heater body suit is quiet but artic shield is known for being noisy and not sure about the IWOM?

It is very quiet. I have used it for several years and never spooked a deer with it at all. I only use a bow for deer so being quiet is paramount.

The suit also contains most all of your scent also, so that is a major benefit as well.

There are, guys that hate and distrust Pro-Staff reviews and that's fair enough. As for me and my endorcement, my credibility is not for sale. I was a paying customer before I was a Pro-Staffer. Every company that I pro-staff for is a company that I fell in love with as a Paying Customer with first.

If I fall in love with a product, in this case the IWOM, I will promote the product as much as possible whether I am Pro-Staffing for them or not.

As someone else mentioned, at the bottom of the title post, there is a link to a review done by Outdoor Life comparing the HBS to the IWOM.

Further; if this, "Pro-Staff", review bothers anyone then I would suggest you look at the literally hundreds (if not thousands) of independent comments and reviews both on A.T. and elsewhere that support my claims of this being the greatest thing since opposing thumbs.

Thats absolutely 100% right. No doubt about it. So what? I am a sponsor here and that's what I do, promote products that I am crazy about. Further, I pay for the privelage to do so. I never considered that stating my educated opinion would offend you.

My original post offered up the forthright, and unsolicited caveat that I am on the IWOM Pro-Staff. I can't see where my being Pro-Staff mitigates my opinion at all. In fact the reason that I am on the Pro-Staff is only because I fell in love with a product that I had invested a lot of hard earned money on first.

I hire and run the Pro-Staff for Buckhorn Outdoors Climbing Stands (I fell in love with the stand after I bought one). The folks that I look for to be on our Pro-Staff are first and foremost, guys that have already spent their money on one of our stands and feel like it's the best money they ever spent.

Those guys that are fanatical about their investment are naturals. They don't need coaching at all. They are, "expert witnesses", as it were. They can run through all the features and it's not a hard sell for them to drive sales.

Most folks appreciate all the information they can find about a product before pulling the trigger with their money.

I BOUGHT the IWOM BEFORE I was on their Pro-Staff. I was on A.T. reading everything everyone had to say about HBS and IWOM for hours. I would have loved to read the O.L. comparison article.

My comments along with the O.L. independent comparison, are a glowing recommendation for IWOM.

Everything I said in my original post is 100% correct. The INDEPENDENT review that I link to after my own personal comments also confirm that the IWOM is an amazing product.

Nowhere in the article does it say that the HBS is not a high quality product. Neither me nor the linked review bashes HBS. The Outdoor Life comparison just states that in the Author's Opinion, the IWOM was a better option than the HBS.

IWOM was made for bowhunters in my opinion. Not a pro staffer here, just a very satisfied customer. By the way, call up customer service at IWOM, they will help get you into a field worn iwom for much less than retail. My wife got one for me that way a few years ago. I have the el, iwom said the xt would be too warm for SE Kansas.

Thanks you for this review! I am considering one of these pieces to replace my Sitka Fanatic set for my Ohio hunt this year.

I don’t see that happening, it didn’t for me anyways. I have both and the only time the iwom gets warn is by my 6 yr old daughter or when it’s cold AND rainin/snowin. The iwom is great, well thought out and warm but for freedom of movement, I choose the fanatic mostly. However, the coldest I usually hunt is in the teens.

A Treestand Wingman is not a must-have for everyone... it's just a must-have for people who hunt off the ground!
