I have been using the IWOM for several years. I bought the IWOM XT and have loved it. I will give you my thoughts and then link an independent review that I believe you may find informative if you are kind of on the fence or can't decide between the IWOM and the Heater Body Suit.
I live and own land on a mountain and can tell you that walkin' up this mountain is rough. It also makes it tough to decide what to wear because if I hike in with the actual gear that I need while in a tree thirty feet up in 15 degree weather I will be soaked to the bone when I get there. Not to mention that even if I manage to avoid hypothermia, and pneumonia and get dry, all that sweat is just an invitation for stinky bacteria to permeate my hunting clothes. Anyone that hunts knows that a deer's number one defense is it's nose and smelly bacteria increases your scent cone dramatically.
There are guys that may initially balk at the IWOM XT's $399 price tag but they shouldn't and I will tell you why... A lot of guys are gonna spend:
$200+ on Extreme Cold Weather Boots
$300+ on Cold weather pants
$300+ on a cold weather parka
$200+ on merino base layers
$100+ on gloves, hat, and hand warmer
That's over $1100; and if let's be honest, some of us spend WAAAY more than that!
They will spend all this money and still have no idea how to get to their stand dry without packing it all in.
The IWOM is great for me because I can get buy with normal 400 gram boots and wear a light to medium base layer and wear the IWOM as a fanny pack or over my shoulder. This allows me to get to my stand dry and scent free ditching all the extra gear (and the expense of it all).
The Iwom has a built in hand warmer, hat and tons of the deepest pockets you ever saw. Because my feet are safely zipped inside the garment I don't need super heavy boots either!
Full Disclosure, I have joined the IWOM Pro-Staff for 2019. Having said that I BOUGHT the IWOM XT years ago and think it was the best money I have ever spent. I joined the Pro-Staff because I wanted to help them be successful after-all they have already helped me be successful in the woods.
