Fellow Archers,
If you have been hunting, and/or reading hunting books and magazines over the last 20 years, you have read articles about everything from turkey hunting to bear hunting, to tracking wounded deer through woods of Warrick County Indiana, all written by John Trout Jr. at one time or another. You may have marveled at a great photograph on a hunting mag. cover, more than likely it was taken by John, and his wife Vikki, as they were a outstanding photography team.

John passed away on Dec. 22, after a short battle with cancer. Having known John for many, many years, I can say he was with out a doubt, the most unassuming, easy going, person I have ever met, he was a joy to be around and listen to, whether after a hunt, during the fall, or in the winter, as he sat around the taxidermy shop, talking hunting, waiting for the next season to open. He and his wife Vikki were inseparable, and my heart goes out to her in this time of grief.

As I prepare to go to the grave site, and to say good bye to a hunting buddy, I wanted to let the archery world know they have lost a champion of our great sport, and he will be sorely missed by those that knew him, and those that loved his books and articles.

Rest In Peace John.

I was made aware of his book on tracking and trailing whitetails many years ago. After laping it up my friends thought I was a blood trailing genius. I have since given away numerous copies as gifts.

He will be missed

I have enjoyed Johns work, also was fortunate enough to speak with him a few times. Bowhunting lost a really good guy in John.
Condolences to his family and friends.
