well i just came home from the DURHAM COUNTY WILDLIFE CLUB.....where i met up with MACHAHOLIC AND JARLICKER to shoot a half round of field archery.....
to brief you.....we were all up till 1am last night at the OBT HILTON shooting our first indoors with the likes of KWARD, SPECTRE, and KITTY....
got up this morning and grabbed my new RAZOR X....with brand new carbon express maxima 150's......and my new CARTER EVOLUTION RELEASE....
now mind you...its about 97 degree's and high humidity here.....so i had to sight in and find my marks for MAC to use his little palm pilot.....and as soon as literally drew my bow...i was soaked with sweat .....and shooting for the first time a new hand held release...let alone a "surprise" release....was all new to me....
i shot in and took marks from 30 and 50 yards....MAC entered them into his electronic stuff and i hand wrote down all the marks it said.....
bottom line....i shot a 265 half with a 16 end...where i found my scope came loose....and the end before i shot a 18 on the 23 yard station.....so i think i might have shot better than my score ......
what i found was that i really like the RAZOR X setup with the carbon express maxima 150's.....299 total arrow weight.....
i can honestly say that the new evolution release will allow many archers a chance to see and hold on targets like they have never been able to ...i was able to hold on the center of the targets...ALL OF THEM...something i have NEVER EVER been able to do....with not once the slightest flintch, panic or hint of anxioity setting in.....
now, this release was sent to me as a prototype...and its not adjustable ....and i feel that it is set slightly harder than what would be ideal for me....so i was holding longer than i ever have and was still able to execute almost all good shots....of all of my shots...i feel like maybe 3 shots i simply PULLED through them when i knew i should have let down.....
the RAZOR X is setup with 50 pounds....with the TRU ARC cams....its holding weight is about 13.7 pounds......it has the short limbs on it...which gives it a 41 ATA.....this bow draws and holds extremely well for me.....i like the grip positioning of it and the feel of a slightly slimmer grip as compared to the shawdowcat or P3 models.....i dont find myself having any creep in this setup....for me....with a 27 3/4 draw length, the peep positioning seems very good at all angles between 20ft and 80 yards.....
the carbon express maxima arrows dont give me a perfect bullet hole when i paper tune it...but the arrows fly flawlessly out to target....i have my arrows cut at 27 inches with a 85 grain point.....i find no wobble or fish tailing what so ever in this setup.....
i am using a CR scope with a DY 4power lens....with the CR peep....i find this setup to provide me with just the right amount of clarity i need...not crystal clear...but not blury by any means.....this combo seems to be just right for my outdoor style.....
i have stock WINNERS CHOICE strings installed on the bow....right out of the package and installed....i had no string twists or peep rotation...and again....brand new everything....and in 97 degree heat with high humidity....with marks just shot and printed....all seemed to mesh very well together....the dependability of these strings are amazing .......
i just might have found a bow that could very well be a perfect all around bow for someone looking to cover all the bases....hunting, 3d, indoor spots, field archery......
the bow chrono'd at 270 with the above mentioned setup.....not bad at all....
