What is the mininum amount on Kinetic Energy a shaft should produce to reliably kill whitetails with mechanicals? Thanks for your thoughts and especially your experiences! BTW my setup is producing 47 # of KE....I checked it tonight. Do I have the horsepower for mechanicals or not?

I would not suggest mechanicals myself. I think you should have at least 65# of KE to shoot mechanicals.

My setup has 59 lbs and I killed 6 or 7 deer with mechanicals but I went back to fixed, I would shoot a good fixed cut on contact with your setup. Joey S aka 308

Also, would a 3 bladed Muzzy be okay? (If you think a mechanical is out of the question.).

You are a little on the low side. If you stick with a conservative cutting diameter you should be fine as long as your bow is tuned right and your shot placement is good. I am right at 59 and have flat out blew through everything I have hit. This includes some very large hogs.

with the jackknife type mechs (grim reaper,rocket,spitfire,etc....)

but RM snypers ,or the old or new tekans, i would have to say YES !!

Mechanicals are not all the same

You have enough KE for the Rocket Steelhead 100 grain 1 1/8'' or 125 gr. 1 1/4''
