And to think, not that long ago, the US men's record was 340 for 36 arrows and it stood for quite some time. This is truly a new era, when even 670's are no longer competitive.

I'm just as amazed to see Ku Bochan still competitive with that 696!

Incredible to see 12 archers over the 690 level.

 

In a way, fortunately, there is the set system. There is still a chance for others to beat a higher ranked archer.

 

An incredible result indeed. Even scrolling through the other results, we can clearly see the level.
We can say that the debate between qualification and the following set-system matches, which are the ones that actually determine the winners in the WA circuit, remains open, can't we?

He had a rough second half though. Only 11 X's and not 12.

Woojin did not go on to win the tournament, as he was beaten in the quarterfinals 7-3 by high school student Choi Cheol-jun, who would eventually take bronze. The gold medal was won by Woojin's Olympic teammate Kim Je Deok.

God bless head to head matchplay, and the set system. Otherwise, the Koreans would go 1/2/3 at every major event in the world.

 

My personal best with a COMPOUND at 50m was a 707 and he shot a 709 at 70m with a recurve??? That's AMAZING!!!!
