You need a tripod, a long zoom, as for the exposure and f stop, ask OHIOBUCK  :noidea:

Nice shot OB. I knew there was something that I was supposed to do last night.

300mm is long enough but you will have to crop heavily to get the size you see here. Follow the Moony 11 rule which says that a good place to start for a proper exposure is f/11 with a shutter speed of 1/ISO. So if shooting at ISO 200, set your f-stop to f/11 and shutter speed to 1/200 and start making adjustments from there as necessary. And then post your results in this thread http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1188696 Good luck.

I bet I know exactly what he used and did! :mg:

Camera Maker: Canon
Camera Model: Canon EOS 40D
Image Date: 2010:04:27 09:47:34
Focal Length: 600.0mm
Focus Distance: 655.35m
Aperture: f/11.0
Exposure Time: 0.017 s (1/60)
ISO equiv: 320
Exposure Bias: none
Metering Mode: Spot
Exposure: Manual
Exposure Mode: Manual
White Balance: Auto
Flash Fired: No
Color Space: sRGB

Actually, I cheated! :mg: A long time ago I downloaded a program that reads the Exposure Information from photos so that I could learn from other people's photos. :mg::embara::shade:

Google search for EXIF Viewers. :)

Close GPR.................i used both teleconverters stacked. For some reason it comes up 600mm instead of 840mm. A couple other things i do is weight the tripod , lock the mirror, and focus with live view at 10X.

Forgot, i'm using a canon 300 f/4L + 1.4x TC + 2x TC
