I was out late season bowhunting in central wisconsin two nights ago and seen a nice buck off in the distance with a doe. I think she was a late doe because he kept following her where ever she went. I tried "the can" a couple times but it didnt even phase him. Then i tried a couple of deep grunts. He looked over in my direction but didnt come over. Anyone have any tips on how i can get him into bow range??

Just be out in the area as much as you can. If you have a good buck to doe ratio, maybe try a little light rattling, it might get him curious. If you can, move closer to where you saw him last. Deer seem to stay in a predictable pattern this time of year. Try calling again with the can, if you can get the does attention, the buck may follow.

I live in southeast WI, south of Oshkosh. Haven't talked to anyone who has found sheds yet. I saw a buck with both antlers a couple days ago. I am sure a few have dropped already though.

Tomorrow will be the first day I can get back in the woods down here in West Bend. I haven't been in the woods since the end of November. I haven't been shed hunting. But I think I am gonna do it this year and see if I can find some new spots in the process. Bill

Sheds

I plan on going out tomorrow morning. It got really warm out tonight. Our thermometer said 45. I plan on shed hunting pretty hard this year. I want to find that nice bucks sheds and i am pretty sure there are a couple other nice ones where i hunt. All the bucks i have seen lately have both their antlers yet. The nice buck still had both his so i am guessing that the smaller ones prolly didnt lose their antlers yet.
