Good video it will be interesting to see how and what changes Casey makes in her form-- she has a very distinctive shooting style for so hopefully we can see the changes she's made--anyone know if the indoor Nationals will be available to us couch duffers??

Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, only the gold medal matches will be streamed

Great video and she is saying something that unfortunately is not quite taught in Archery: body awareness. A complementary training in sports where body awareness is necessary in advancing is the key.

Coach Kim being who he is, she's likely changed her dynamic follow through with the bow arm, expect a much more korean-esque and steady swing. Stance is likely more square. Draw-hand pinky should be more relaxed (less pulled back) to promote a cleaner release.

I’d have to agree. I think all that movement in the bow arm after the shot is just too much for the “Korean” form

And yet, “all that movement” got her to where she was- including being the only shooter ever to beat An San in world level competition.

We will see how this plays out. Spending two days changing what one has used reliably for years rarely sticks past the honeymoon.

A lot of archers have "beaten" An San--no archer is invincible. Just as a lot of archers have beaten Casey. It might be useful to point out that currently An San ranks 3rd in the World at 246 vs Casey at 5th at 218. An has certainly brings home more medals.

To say form can never be improved and an archer cannot get better is a bit odd. And if the form you use reliably starts interfering with your development, it is not that reliable. I am also sure she will be doing more than just two days of work--you need to practice what you learn and that takes time.

Your so right. Casey is at the top of the game and should not look to improve. She must be #1

I've been watching how Koreans shoot but i can't see any differences besides some of them have a slightly bent arm and push all the way when they release?

it’s the follow thru after the release. The bow arm is still in the same position as at full draw, only the hand rotated to allow the bow to fall. As oppose to the bow arm pushing toward the right after release.

So I caught that she made the gold medal match at indoor nets; anyone share any observed differences?

Also, I don't keep up with the Korean coaches, is she now working with the coach from the OTC or someone else?

Ya beat me to the question... she shot pretty well. It was hard for me to see anything, the announcers even mentioned it but had no idea of what change had taken place. She let her bow hand drop off an angle rather than falling in the direction of the target but that's still there??? Maybe a change in head position at full draw?? I don't think the camera angles were good for those of us trying to evaluate shooting style details-- maybe otherd have more insight or errr better sight than I did. Hey she won gold so at least nothing hurt her style.

Not the best angle for the stance but definitely looks more square and draw-hand pinky is much more relaxed compared to before. The lateral movement in the follow throughis still there but looks like she is putting an effort towards not dropping it as much. So yeah pretty much the classic coach Kim fixes.

There's a YouTube of [I think] of the Texas Open where she is in the finals; sounds like she shot a clean 90 in an earlier match before scoring a win with a 148/150 cumulative points in the finals, dropping two nines in the second before shooting 9 straight 10s to finish out... No idea on any form changes... .
