Has anyone here tried putting a leather grip on a recurve bow. I'm trying to put one on a Martin Hatfield..Damn it's difficult. I'd like to hear if anyone was successful.

You might want to try a leather wrap like they use on tennis rackets. I have found that to work well and be very comfortable.

leather grip on a recurve

cut and shape the leather to the bow grip by dampening it slightly, let the leather dry thoroughly then, using barge cement, attach to grip.

be sure to follow the directions of the barge cement.

if you don't like it or "mess it up", it's easily removed.

just take your time. i think you'll be pleased at how easy it can be.

thin leather-- wet it -- shape to grip alittle duco cement -- lace up back -- i have leather grips on all my bows

For a good fit-you have to wet form it to the grip,then Barge cement it.

Where can good leather be purchased ? What thickness/weight works best ? I bought some online, but it is paper thin and almost like cloth. Thanks !

go to the thrift store and get an old pair of boots, or a purse or something for a couple dollars. The grip on my longbow came from a leather jacket my son outgrew.:wink:
